Family and friends came along to cheer on the Residents’ Choir as it performed during Alzheimer Awareness Month. The outing was an opportunity to share the joy of singing while raising funds and awareness for a charity close to the home’s heart.

The choir began with an idea from Almond View Activity Co-ordinator Pauline Campbell. Already a member of a choir herself, Pauline wondered in 2024 whether residents would enjoy singing together. The idea received an enthusiastic response, and the group came together in time for Christmas that year, when it also raised money for charity. Since then, residents have sung regularly at the home and at other venues.

At Almond View, where the team supports people living with dementia, moments of enjoyment and connection through music are especially meaningful and can really help support mood and wellbeing.

The choir has become a wonderful part of life at Almond View, and today they took that sense of togetherness out into the community. We know how much support matters to people living with dementia and to their families, which is why Alzheimer Scotland’s work means so much to us.
