We are so proud of Jenni Mack our Activity Coordinator at Craigielea Care Home who won the 'Emerging Talent' award at the Scottish Care Awards on Friday 16th November in Glasgow.
The 'Emerging Talent' award was established to recognise an individual who is either new to the sector or has grown in their role to become a shining example of the care home workforce.
The criteria for this award included being able to evidence the nominee striving to achieve something beyond their normal role requirements, showing a willingness to learn and improve and demonstrating the difference they have made since commencing their role, with examples of what they have achieved.
Jenni has gone above and beyond her call of duty, and has accomplished so many of her goals since working at Craigielea. She has grown so much confidence and knowledge in her role, which has allowed her to hold presentations and workshops at SSSC, Scottish Care and Glasgow School of Art. She has also been asked to write guest blog posts for a number of companies, from Holmes Care Group, Bright Copper Kettle and Storiicare to name a few.
Her approach to activities has been highly commended by the Care Inspectorate with one inspector stating “there are a range of activities and events that residents can enjoy. The activities staff know the likes and preferences of residents and try to ensure that residents spend their day in a meaningful way.”
Jenni has inspired so many others with her work ethic and pushing herself out of her comfort zone. To win this award has been the perfect acknowledgement of her hard work, dedication and merit.
Jenni said 'I can't believe I won! I am so grateful to the team at Craigielea; I couldn't do what I do everyday without them, and a big thank you to my manager Sheila for giving me the tools to explore new ideas, and for encouraging me to look at new avenues for delivering a diverse range of activities that are meaningful to the residents.'
