Beechwood Care Home staff members Celebrate as they win big at The Great British Care Awards

Beechwood Care Home in Wishaw are celebrating as their dedication to the Care Sector was recognised by one of the most prestigious care industry awards, The Great British Care Awards.
On November 14th staff members from Beechwood Care Home were in attendance at ‘The Great British Care Awards’ in Newcastle following two nominations last month.
Now they are celebrating as Maintenance Worker Billy took home the award for ‘Ancillary Worker’ and Home Manager Cathy took s home the runner up ‘Care Home Manager Award’.
The Great British Care Awards are a National Award ceremony celebrating everything great about workers and organisations within the care industry, and is one of most prestigious and highly competitive awards across England.
Maintenance Worker, Billy Anderson, expressed his delight and shock to win the award “It was amazing to be nominated as I didn’t think I would even make it that far, to win is beyond my wildest expectations. I’m very grateful to be taking this award back to Beechwood.”
Billy has gone above and beyond in his role ever since joining the home, spending much of his time not only maintaining the environment but also supporting the residents to engage with the home and beyond, organising outings to the local Ice Rink, visiting Fishing sites and organising home Wresting Matches.
Cathy Togneri, the home’s manager also received special recognition for her leadership within the home receiving runner up for the ‘Care Home Manager Award’.
Since joining the home in 2016 Cathy has gone above and beyond to take the home from strength to strength improving services and creating new engaging groups for residents, developing Dementia walks, workshops and family events.
Cathy said she is delighted for her team “Working in a Care Home really is a team effort and I am so happy our team have been recognised, they are all a true inspiration to themselves.”
