A Message from Sharifa Lakhani, Managing Director of Holmes Care Group
With UK Covid‐19 restrictions having been in place for almost a year, I want to provide an update on the work Holmes Care Group is doing to safeguard the health and wellbeing of our residents and team members. I also want to express my gratitude to everyone connected to our homes, for your ongoing patience, kindness, and trust as we continue to navigate through these challenging times.
Keeping our homes safe
Like all care providers, we have faced outbreaks of coronavirus in our homes that, despite our best efforts, have sadly resulted in a number of residents passing away. Every death in one of our homes is a tragedy and our thoughts are with everyone who has lost a loved one.
Our commitment to you, since the very beginning of this crisis, has been to do everything in our power to safeguard the health and wellbeing of all our residents, to the best of our abilities. This has included following all the latest advice from Public Health bodies and the relevant authorities on infection prevention and control; ensuring staff have access to adequate supplies of PPE; and, now that testing is available, conducting regular staff and resident Covid‐19 tests.
Each of our care homes also have a set of strong infection prevention and control measures that is complemented by the work of our Covid‐19 Leadership Team, which meets daily to discuss any issues that may have arisen.
Looking ahead
We are thankful that more is now known about the virus, how it spreads and how it can be prevented. This, alongside increased testing, and the vaccination programme, gives us a great deal of hope that the virus will be brought under control and that life can return to some form of normality.
Until then, we continue to do everything we can to keep life as normal for residents as possible, prioritising their physical and mental wellbeing at all times. We know that current restrictions are extremely difficult for residents and their loved ones alike, and we would like to thank all of you for your continued compassion and understanding, as our teams comply with the law in regards to care home visits.
Finally, I would like to say once again a huge thank you to each member of the Holmes Care team, who have shown true resilience, bravery and empathy, and have done an exceptional job in caring for some of the most vulnerable members of our society during these unprecedented times.
Whilst we do provide regular, direct updates to all those associated with each Holmes Care home, if you have any questions, please get in touch via Covid19@holmes‐care.co.uk.
